THANKS DAD

Donald Frederick Beard : Captain Royal Army Service Corp  served at the Battle of Tobruk and in Libya, Syria, and in the desert 1940/45.

Spoke fluent French and Arabic and was greatly respected by the Desert Tribes.

Captain Beard was in charge of feeding thousands of German and Italian prisoners of war from various campaigns.

His duties concerned working with the Arabic nomads and Bedouin desert tribes to find food sources for the British Army and their prisoners of water.

My dad in many ways was a Lawrence of Arabia type of man.

He came back a hero and was swallowed up in civilian life by its inequities.

Sound like something still happening?
